Rosemary Essential Oil: the Benefits for Hair

A plant that has a place in both the garden, kitchen... and your shower! Today we're discussing rosemary and its precious essential oil, which makes up the unforgettable fragrance of A Single Shampoo.

Rosemary is the common name of the aromatic plant scientifically known as Rosmarinus officinalis. It is an evergreen bush that grows in the wild along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. The origin of the name would seem to come from rosa maris (i.e. sea rose), a poetic definition that emphasizes the inseparable connection between the plant and its place of origin, the Mediterranean coast.

Blue like the sea, rosemary flowers are beautiful. But the intense fragrance typical of this plant comes from itsleaves, which are rich in essential oils. Let’s take a closer look at the characteristics and benefits of rosemary!

Rosemary essential oil and its properties

Rosemary is much more than just anaromatic plant used in the kitchen. Rosemary also has various properties that are used in perfumery and pharmacy.

From rosemary leaves we obtain a highly perfumed essential oil which is also perfect for cosmetics: it is aromatic, persistent and — based on the plant variety — it has hints of eucalyptus, camphor, incense or pine.

The fragrance has stimulating properties: it improves mood and strengthens memory. To fight fatigue, add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to your bath water for a boost of energy; you can also use it as an air freshener for the home.

Davines scientific garden

At the Davines Village we have created a Scientific Garden managed according to the principles of organic farming. This marvellous open air laboratory is home to numerous plants that are also contained in our formulas. For example the rosemary and lavender of A Single Shampoo!

The scientific garden embodies the Davines philosophy. It combines — even sublimates — the two complementary forces that animate us: scientific training and humanistic calling. This creates a circular research model, one-of-a-kind in the world.
