This is a very nice gel. I have 3a curly hair that is very prone to frizz if the dew point is is high, and this gets me through the summers with great hair. I just recently realized it's meant to be a finishing gel on dry hair, and I have always used it in very wet hair before. Today I used This is a Curl Building Serum in wet hair, and when my hair was dry I smoothed a small amount of this over the surface of my hair. I wanted to try it because the dew point was higher today, and the serum has almost no hold. It worked extremely well! I had zero frizz, it did not give me the wet look (which I hate), and my hair looked very shiny. This is a very versatile product, and I will never stop buying it.

Used this for years! Latest bottle is very thin and watery, not a gel anymore, so for that reason, I will no longer be purchasing.

I agree with the recent reviews. I have used this product for years and recently the consistency has changed from a thick gel to a very thin, runny liquid. The product does not work as well, either. I have attempted to contact customer service twice but no one will return my message. I would love to know whether this was a bad lot or whether the product has changed.

I have been using this for the last 8-10 years. I had never used a better product. The formula has recently changed and the hold it gives is not near what it used to be. The consistency of it is as if it is watered down. So disappointing.

I've been using this medium hold gel for a couple of years. Makes my hair shiny with relatively stiff hold. Which is exactly what I want when I use it. The last 2 bottles received however, the consistency is no longer gel-like, more water-like and it doesn't work as well as it used to. I ordered a second bottle, hoping the earlier one was a fluke. But this second one is watery as well. I feel like the formula has changed and it no longer does what I want. So its off to find another gel...

I have been using this medium molding gel for years- 10 or so I think. A hair stylist got me started with it and I absolutely love the way it holds my hair without looking stiff or crunchy. I am 70, straight grey hair that is layered and it adds just the right amount of body and texture and holding power. Don’t stop making it!!

I have fine wavy hair and a shaggy pixie cut. This gel is light weight and spreads easily through my hair. I let it air dry and it holds its shape perfectly. I could leave it that way for a super sleek look, but I usually break the gel cast with my hands and add a little texturizer for a more natural finish.

Davies Defining Gel was no longer available anywhere even at Davines. So, I contacted the company and the medium hold modeling gel was recommended. Oh joy, I found my long lost friend.
This gel works great on my thin curly hair. It gives me so much body without the heaviness. I apply it when my hair is wet and blow dry.
Because of its fantastic holding power, I bought 3 bottles. Oh, and the fragrance is divine!

perfect soft hold
I love this product as a good foundation for my blowdry. It has just the right amount of hold (applied at the root & comb thru ends) and soft finish after styling. It gives my fine hair thickness without stiffness and leaves increadable shine!

Im not impressed with this product. It really isnt any different than any other hair gel Ive used. I wont purchase again.
