Great curl oil/gel. Elaine

I love this gel oil! I have 3b curls and this product gives me superior definition and frizz control. The hold is enough for me. I don't have to layer with anything else (other than the Oi oil, which I put on after my hair dries). I highly recommend this for all curly-peeps! And the smell, well, that goes without saying. Heavenly!

The other reviewers sold me on trying this.
And I was not disappointed. The crunch factor turns me off most gels. This product used very lightly(I have a lot of hair but still only used maybe two teaspoons) rubbed in my hands to spread it on towel dried hair. I air dry. It reduces frizz, and definitely gives me well defined curls that bounce. I avoid putting it near my scalp which doesn’t curl. But hit the ends and the main body of my hair.
Now, if I could just stop playing with my hair!!

I purchased this while looking for an alternative to the curl building serum, which I have long used, but felt was starting to weigh my hair down. I wasn't sure what to expect, I think gel-oil is a good descriptor, it falls somewhere in between, and does not feel completely like either. It does not have as much hold as the serum, and does not create the same shell or crunch as the serum. I let my hair air dry about 80%, and then finish with a diffuser; while the serum creates a firmer hold, the curl gel-oil left me with much softer bouncier curls. I was skeptical when I first applied it to towel dried hair, but after finishing my routine and using a few times, I much prefer this to the serum. I appreciate the lighter and softer feeling of my curls, and it also seems to help mitigate some frizz factor.

The Curl Gel Oil is the first Davines product I have used and I absolutely love it. I have naturally curly hair, but have been blowing it out for about 20+ years. I have been wanting to embrace my natural curls, but I have always felt frizzy and not myself. This product sold me and now my hair air-dries naturally and my curls are defined, soft and not frizzy. I have now tried other Davines products, which I love as well.

Out of all Davines Curl products, this one is the keeper! I have fine, 2B-C, just below shoulder length natural hair with a touch of grey. The Curl Gel Oil (use about 2 Tsps) in my towel squeezed hair (roots to ends) and air dried, looks great with defined, shiny, no frizz curls for days! Hair also look fuller. LOVE IT!!! It's called an oil gel but is not oily at all... Recommended!

WOW! This is a really effective product. I've used the curl mousse, the curl cream, the the curl building serum and this is better than all of them. I can't believe how bouncy and well-formed my curls are with this product - perfect corkscrews that lasted all day, which is really hard to achieve with my very fine hair. After I'd ordered it, I saw somewhere that it was ideal for coarse, thick hair and thought, "oh, well." But it works just great on fine hair, too. Hair feels natural, not crunchy or sticky, and after sleeping on my hair it just took a spritz of water to help tame the frizzes and reform the curls - not quite as tight as day one, but still looked great.

Seriously the BEST product I’ve found for my wavy/curly hair. I can skip washing and styling for days after I use this stuff. It keeps my hair moisturized, deletes frizz, and maintains the shape of my wave/curl pattern effortlessly. I had all but given up on a Davines product that could handle my hair. This is my HG!

I fully do not understand why all the other reviews complaining that this is not a gel and more of an oil, when the product calls itself a "gel-oil." So it's really somewhere between the two. Personally, I love it. They used it on me at the salon and I bought it on the spot, which I never do. I have the curl-building serum and this basically makes that product irrelevant. It's super soft and leaves my curls very soft and not crunchy at all. It's an easier styling product in this regard, AND it makes my hands super soft after using it, while other products I need to rinse the product off my hands because they are sticky. I find I can diffuse my hair for lots of volume, or just let it air dry and I still get soft curls, whereas other curling products really need that diffusing to lock in the curl before breaking up the product to release the crunch. None of that with this. I've never had such effortless shape before. I'm never going back.

This product gave me soft, bouncy curls. It does not have any hold and does not form a cast, so I’m not sure it really qualifies as a gel, from my perspective. However, I love how silky and soft my curls felt and frizz was minimal even after sleeping on them! The smell is also lovely. I think including “gel” in the name might affect people’s expectations of this product but I am enjoying using it and will likely repurchase.

They used it on me at the salon yesterday and I liked it. I do have oil not oil. I use it after oi milk & love curl cream. I don't like curl building serum it makes my hair crunchy. This doesn't.

I was so happy to see Davines was offering a curl "gel" but come to find out, it is not much of a gel at all.
Taking the product from the bottle it comes out as a serum-like cream (very similar texture and smell as This Is A Curl Building Serum" if you have ever tried that product from Davines) and it instantly turns from a cream to a liquid puddle IN YOUR HAND. It is immediate and did not provide the tacky/sticky of a gel. I would have labeled this an Oil. Not a gel. I need that gel consistency for my waves to get definition and Davines simply has not made a product like this for curls. I'm sorry to say this is a complete miss for me. I am better off sticking to my routine of serum and curl cream. This is a huge miss step in the quest for a gel. It's basically the Oil non Oil all over again.
