I’ve always liked this brand because it wasn’t corporate owned and I felt good supporting it. However, I recently learned that the brand began selling its products in China in 2021, where animal testing requirements have historically applied to certain cosmetics.
The brand says China eased animal testing but I don’t find that explanation clear or reassuring enough. I’m not comfortable supporting a brand when I can’t be confident that its products are truly cruelty-free.
Unfortunately, I’ll no longer be supporting this brand.

They need to release body and hair mists with this scent. It is amazing! Performance: I have waist long naturally curly hair that I should probably cut shorter since my ends are so perpetually dry (curly hair is naturally dry) but I don't want to! So I just deal with the frizz and the split ends as they come. It's very easy for a shampoo to feel like it is stripping my hair. This shampoo did NOT do that and I am so grateful it didn't because now I can feel safe to use it over and over and over because it is sooo good. I loved it! And every time I use it I love it more.

I have never had such an itchy scalp in my life. I’ve never had an allergic reaction to any hai products either. It’s so bad I can’t sleep. I only tried this shampoo once two weeks ago. My scalp and neck are still red, scaly, and covered in little pimple bumps. I have used and loved Davines’ products for years but had not bought any since 2019 (a store closed and I bought ton on sale). I used Momo and Nounou shampoo and the Minu conditioner. I took the quiz on the website and was told “Love curl shampoo” would be the best for me. I couldn’t stand the fragrance—it was SO STRONG! It actually caused me to get sent home from a job! I gave it away and decided to try different products/the next recommendation for me on the list. It’s crazy that a shampoo formulated for the scalp has caused me more scalp discomfort than anything I could have ever imagined. I’m going to be doing a bunch of tests with my dermatologist next week and have been given a bunch of pills and creams to help control and soothe this.

I really wanted to love this shampoo because the brand has such a great reputation and the scent/texture are nice. But I was surprised to see that it contains Red 33 (a synthetic dye). For a product that positions itself as high-quality and more “clean,” I didn’t expect artificial coloring especially something that doesn’t add any benefit to hair health.
It made my scalp so angry. I personally try to avoid unnecessary additives like synthetic dyes, so this was disappointing. Sharing in case others are ingredient conscious too.

So far so good! I’ve only used it three times as I only wash my hair 1-2x/week. My scalp feels clean and I have no greasy dandruff or product buildup like I did before. I do have some sensitive areas on my scalp now, but I also just dyed my hair, so it could be from that……. we will see! I am using it along with Melu conditioner. Holy cow, my hair did not like this product! At my roots my hair did feel squeaky clean and fresh. But about midcway down to the roots, my hair looked f r i e d after using it twice. At first I thought maybe I didn't use enough heat protection, but then I tried subbing out the one new thing added to my routine (this shampoo) and skipping it once my hair already feels back to normal. Maybe I'll try using it once a month, but I don't know if the benefits will be as apparent.

Decided to switch it up to another brand that after time just wasn’t as impressive. Came back to the energizing shampoo recently as my trusted favorite only to be extremely disappointed.
