This is the ONLY shampoo I have ever used that has gotten rid of my dandruff/ flakey itchy scalp. I have tried so many brands. I have even stopped using this shampoo to see if anything else would work many times, and I always come back to this. It is my all time favorite shampoo. And Davines is my favorite hair product as a whole.

Overpriced

This is the only dandruff shampoo I have used that smells amazing and works. I can’t go without a weekly wash with this shampoo. It gets rid of my flakes and calms the itching on my scalp. It’s simply the best and worth the money. It wasn’t available for a time and I had to go to my doctor because my scalp became itchy and flakey. So glad it’s back in stock!

My son had terrible oily itchy dandruff. We tried everything and my hair stylist recommended this purifying shampoo and it changed his life! No more itchy dandruff 10/10 recommend. It also works for my dry scalp. I would have bloody patches from dryness and it’s gone now!

I love this shampoo! I’ve been having scalp issues for a while now. It has been all very inflamed, itchy, and very dandruff prone. After 2 uses of this my scalp feels so calm (not even just after a wash but for days to follow). The dandruff is 98% gone too. I suspect it I’ll go away and stay away after more uses and continued use. Also, a lot of people complained about the smell, but I don’t mind it at all. In fact, I kind of like it for what it is. Highly recommend this shampoo if your scalp is feeling inflamed and itchy.

I struggle with scalp psoriasis and I’ve tried everything but nothing else works! This is the only product I’ve found that keeps my scalp clear and under control.

I read some comments and I really don’t understand what is people’s problem with the smell of this shampoo. It smells so amazing, like a parfum from a blend of herbs and essential oils, i love it!! But above all, I have a very stubborn dandruff and this is the only product that can help. Couldn’t believe the results when first tried it that was like 10 years ago. Haven’t found anything better ever since.

I generally love the smell of all the Davines products I’ve used but the Purifying Shampoo has the WORST smell!! My daughter used it once about 3 weeks ago and we still cannot get the smell out of her bathroom and bedroom. It’s a hard to describe organic/ chemical smell. We’ve tried vinegar/ baking soda, enzyme cleaner and even Draino in the shower drain but the smell will not go away. Davines, what is the chemical ingredient in the shampoo that produces this nauseating smell??

I was hoping the fragrance warnings in the reviews were exaggerating but it’s true. It may work alright for dandruff but smelling this all day is too much. All my friends agree it is a weird smell, like if an antique shop caught fire kinda smell. This is the first bad review I’ve left in my life but the people need to know.

I don't care how well it hypothetically works, the smell is horrific. It reminds me of a perm; super sulfur forward, and overpowers through your next wash with a different product. I really wanted to love this product, but I was too grossed out to continue using it.

Product is not good consistency. Product does not rinse easily. Not sure it purifies or helps.

I go to Etta Salon in Brooklyn, New York, an my stylist was the one who introduced me to the dandruff shampoo, I had used many other dry scalp shampoos before and they didn’t do much, but this one is a life saver. When you were out of it recently I had to use other shampoos and nothing was as good. So glad it’s back! It really just makes my hair so great, such a huge fan!

This is my go-to dandruff shampoo. I use it every 2-3 washes and flakes are gone! It's not my favorite smell but works so well i'll continue to use it.

This makes my hair skin so happy. My under hairs dermis is really not happy a lot, but with the Davines it's so much more happy. Way less angry. I got that angry head skin under my hair but not when Davines comes to the party. Only shampoo that gets rid of my angry flakes!

The fragrance in this shampoo is like an evil entity I can't exorcise. I washed my dreads once with the shampoo, hated the smell and for close to a month have been tried multiple washes daily, soaks, dips and Febreze to remove the scent. It is still there, my husband had to sleep in the spare room for over a week because it gave him migraines. My sister in law thought I'd put Nair in my hair by mistake, that's what it STILL faintly smells like. I have waist length mature dreads my friend put into my hair while she was dying from cancer. I cannot cut them, but I want to, just to escape the smell. I can smell it right now. I was so angry at the company. After smelling my hair at an appointment with my loctician she removed the product from her recommended list. I don't know what the underlying chemical Nair smell or what kind of fragrance will hold on like this. I'm going to the beach and I'm PRAYING the seawater for days will knock the smell out. Honestly, I'm destroying my beautiful locs with everything, that maybe cutting them will be necessary. All I know is I'm angry. SO, SO ANGRY.

My sister introduced me to Davines two years ago and I’ve been stuck on it ever since! I love the purifying shampoo! Sometimes my head will get very itchy and this handles it within a day or two. I’m a forever Davines girl! Thanks for such great products. I also love MoMo shampoo and conditioner.

This shampoo keeps your color fresh like no other shampoo. I can’t be without it.

This is a fragrance warning! I have washed my hair 4 times, soaked it twice in 1st cider vinegar and then white vinegar, it still stinks. I have never experienced anything like this before, the fragrance is OVERWHELMING. I have locs and I don't know how I'm going to get this stink out of them. I've used their other shampoos and those are lightly scented compared to this. My sister in law thought I had Nair hair remover in my hair, that's what it smells like. Tomorrow I'm going to soak them vinegar, baking soda and jojoba oil, then rinse it with the hose on the jet setting. Be very careful, make sure you like the scent before using, because thats all you will be able to smell. This is a nightmare.

This is the only thing I have used that’s actually completely eliminated my dry and itchy scalp. Before using this product I thought I was just going to have to accept the fact that my scalp would be itchy, irritated, and flaky after about three days. Since using this product I can easily go a week without washing my hair and I have absolutely no flaking or itching. Hands down the best haircare product I have ever used.

@davines, I think you changed the formula from last year. I know the shampoo wasn’t available for months before and after the new year so can you please bring back the previous formula. It helped my psoriasis and made my hair look really nice. Now it doesn’t

Worked for me so quickly!!! I experienced dandruff and itchy scalp for the first time and was shocked that nothing was working to solve. I tried over the counter and prescription. A friend recommended Davines in general, so I tried Purifying. It worked after about 2 washes. Problem is completely gone! I use once a week now just to prevent any reoccurrence. Wonderful!!!

Since moving to Iceland and having sulfur in the water my scalp got very irritated and painful, my dandruff went out of control. After first use of this product my scalp calmed down straight away. Nothing works as great as this shampoo!

This will forever be a staple in my bathroom from now on— my husband has had psoriasis and dandruff on his scalp for as long as I can remember. He had long 3a curls which we recently cut as his scalp had gotten so out of control his hair was thinning excessively. I have bought him everything under the sun that’s marketed towards his issues— head and shoulders, prescription psoriasis shampoo, kerastase symbiose, oribe serene scalp, biolage, redken, r+co…. The list could go on. He also utilizes red light therapy for his scalp every other day. After a month of use, his scalp has 0 plaques of psoriasis, 0 signs of dandruff, his hair fall when washing is much less, and his hair has visible shine without being weighed down. I’ve struggled with flakes/dandruff for a good amount of my 20’s and was never able to find a good anti-dandruff product. I’ve tried a lot of products from drugstore to high-end, but nothing really got rid of my dandruff 100%. (Even the highly-rated T-gel didn’t cut it). After using this anti-dandruff shampoo TWICE, I saw my flakes reduce significantly!!! It’s an amazing product that I will keep using and hope they never discontinue this product. I love the smell and it lathers quite nicely for me, despite what other reviews have been saying. Highly recommend for dandruff sufferers like me~ 10/10

I’m not exactly sure how the science behind this stuff works, but my only regret is that I didn’t buy it sooner. I’ve struggled my entire adult life with a flakey scalp - it’s caused me pain and embarrassment for years and nothing has ever worked to resolve it. My stylist suggested this product but I was hesitant to purchase until I finally got so sick of dealing with the pain and shame that this became my last attempt before tying a medicated shampoo. Truly, after ONE use my flakiness reduced so significantly I couldn’t believe it. After two uses, the problem was gone entirely. No pain, no itchiness, no inflamed scalp - none of these issues existed anymore. I also tried several samples of their other shampoo/conditioners and was amazed to see an immediately improvement in the strength and overall health of my hair. I can wash my hair literally once, maybe twice a week with Davines and my hair looks and smells CLEAN. Thank you thank you thank you for such incredible products. I’ve never been more grateful towards a beauty company in my life!

My hairstylist noticed I had dandruff… (I knew I did) lol so she washed my hair with this stuff and it was great… it was the first wash, so I wasn’t sure if it REALLY worked. At the end she sold me on it, and I started using it. It definitely made a difference, my dandruff was going away quickly. However, I recommend only using it once or twice a week. Pretty sure that’s what it says to do as well. If you overuse, it might cause oily hair or have the opposite effect and create more dandruff. You really have to lather and massage it into your scalp to get the full effect, so give it a try and don’t give up!

I can’t believe how small the bottle is for the price. It doesn’t lather AT ALL, so you have to use quite a lot of it. The smell starts out like sandalwood, then smells like perming solution, but leaves a hint of sulfur on the hair all day. They sent it with a very pleasant smelling conditioner packet that I was hoping would hide it. It didn’t.

It worked really well for my sebhorric dermatitis! but after awhile it made my scalp get oily more frequently so I had to shower from every 3 days to every single day. on the plus side, it was consistent with keeping the dermatitis away.. but i had to switch to rebalance my scalp again.

Believe me when I say I have tried everything and anything to eliminate my dandruff, and this has been THE ONE for me. So glad I gave it a try!!

Picked up at my local salon on a whim. It has truly been one of the best dandruff shampoos I’ve ever used. I love that it’s not a peppermint sent (goes better with the standard conditioners I use). I use about once a week and it eliminates my small flakes. Doesn’t make my hair as frizzy as other prods.

Two weeks of using this product as directed and I’ve already seen a vast improvement, no more itchiness of flakiness. Highly recommend for addressing those issues, and it leaves my hair in great condition and my color looking good as well.

I’ve been using Davines Purifying shampoo for 12 years. It’s the only shampoo that makes my scalp feel normal. I fear a day when they discontinue it! They used to sell it in a liter container and I wish I could still buy it in bulk. People often ask what perfume I’m wearing and it’s become my signature scent.

I’ve been struggling with dandruff and itchy scalp for as long as I can remember and nothing has ever worked so effectively and as quickly as this product. This shampoo is great for treating my seborrheic dermatitis wounds and dandruff. I have trouble finding a shampoo which doesn't cause redness on my forehead or hairline, and this is one of those rare shampoos for me. But it has one problem:After using this shampoo 2 times a week, for about three weeks, I start to notice that my scalp gets more oily. This may be great for dry scalp problem but my oily scalp gets more oily using this shampoo.I noticed this issue get s mentioned in some of the reviews on web too. So I think if Davines could add another product to this dandruff line, with a very similar formula(it's already a great formula) but targets for oily scalp, a shampoo which is able to treat oily scalp(in addition to treating dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis wounds) it would be perfect.

I was having suffering from a really bad flake flare up and was trying everything under the sun. After ONE shampoo I noticed a huge difference, I’d say after the 2nd/3rd shampoo the flakes were completely gone. Here I am months later, completely flake free and my hair has never felt more healthy (which you know is hard to achieve with anti dandruff products if you’ve used them). If you’re suffering from dandruff/sebhoric dermatitis, I’d highly encourage you to try this shampoo, it’s a game changer!

HANDS DOWN--NO COMPETITION!!! I write this review as an African American Male, that has tried the true smorgasbord of products for not only hair dandruff but beard dandruff as well. I have only used this stuff ONCE, and it worked so well that I immediately bought the gel too. I tell you... Best Dandruff Shampoo! I have tried multiple, different dandruff specific products: shampoos, oils, and sprays but none have worked. So much money down the drain. I have been using this for about three weeks now and I can say with complete confidence that it works so well! After just two washes, my scalp was oily and there was no noticeable dandruff. My scalp feels much healthier and is no longer irritable nor itchy. 10/10 would recommend. I’ll be sticking to this shampoo for the foreseeable future.

Love it The past several months I’ve been really struggling with scalp dryness and dandruff. The worst its ever been in my life. I tried several different approaches such as apple cider shampoos, coconut oil, tea tree oil and aloe. Some stuff helped but the dryness was not going away. I bought this two weeks ago and with just a few washes it’s completely turned around. I’m impressed and so thankful.

Answer to your prayers for seborrhea dermatitis ! TRY IT I was feeling so defeated for 2 years, my scalp was producing zero oil. Flakes covered my hair, and the integrity of my hair was going down hill. I tried so many products on the market, most extremely harsh or smelling terrible ( im looking at you T sal ) I started using this shampoo 2 times a week, and after about 4 weeks of use I started to notice OIL! My scalp is oily now and the flakes are far less. I rarely see flakes in my hair now. I cant even tell you how happy I am - please try this product if you're struggling with dermatitis on the scalp. I only wish I found this sooner. Thank you so much davines... seriously thank you!

Did the trick for my son's dandruff This works wonders for my teenage son. As he is getting older, his hair was exhibiting signs of dandruff. All the other products we tried, really stressed and dried out his scalp. This was amazing. Gentle and so effective. I love Davines and love that their products are pure. Thank you!!!!

The Best I Have Used I have a very dry scalp, most notably around my hair line. My dry flaky scalp was clearly visible. I have gone to a dermatologist in the past and the only thing that helped it was to apply some awful smelling scalp oil overnight. I have tried almost every scalp treatment under the sun, from high end brands, to store brands and nothing worked except the oil. Then I decided to try this product. It works wonders. My scalp is not flaking or itchy. The smell does not bother me at all. I would defiantly recommend.

Most effective dandruff shampoo Yes it smells weird. My husband and I have actually grown to like it, but I hated the smell for a while. I kept using it because after 1 wash the intense itching was gone. After a few more washes, the burning red patches and inflammation on my scalp were completely gone. I wash my hair every 2-3 days and after I calm down a flare up (2 uses) I only use this product every 2-3 washes. It doesn't lather well so use a different product on the length of your hair so you don't go wasting it. This stuff is incredibly effective and I wish I had found it much, much sooner.

Literally Nothing Else Fixes Dandruff Like this I suffer from absolutely terrible dandruff, have tried every market on the product for dandruff, and nothing works nearly as well as this does. I have such awful dandruff that it takes a couple washes, but When maintaining a normal scalp I use this once a week and it keeps up a hydrated scalp beautifully. Don't bother buying another product it won't work this one is the best!
